The “Jam Session” band will be performing short sets of tunes throughout the event, beginning at 1:30pm. We’ll also need volunteers for a car wash, to serve root beer floats, and to help out with other community service projects in the park. Now that we're back to school, I have several important reminders and updates:

Good morning everyone,

First, let me say that this e-mail may look a little lengthy, but EVERY WORD IS IMPORTANT. Every word effects you personally. Every word effects the future of Lakewood. Every word is from my heart...

I am asking that you please take the time to read and understand.

As many of you know, the push to advocate for the arts and the future of the Lakewood Schools has already begun. Many students, parents, and community members have begun collaborating to generate ideas and put plans into action that will help get everyone informed about our upcoming Board Meeting (Feb 10th, where cuts for next year will be decided) and Levy in May.
Last week, we spoke with the high school band students about what these cuts mean, what they could look like for our programs and the school, and how they will be decided. Though I'm sure your students have probably relayed some of this information, I think it's important to hear it first hand. Therefore, I would like to formally invite EVERY PARENT and interested student to our Band Booster Meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan 26th) at 7:30pm in the band room. I want you to know the facts so you can be an informed advocate for not only the Peforming Arts, but Lakewood Schools as we face the toughest financial situation in the history of the District.

The timeline is as follows:
Wednesday, February 10th: School Board Meeting. This is the meeting where a proposed list of PERMANENT cuts will be voted on. As it stands, 2 FINE ARTS POSITIONS are on this list. If we lose them (from the music department), they will NEVER COME BACK, even if we pass another levy!!!

Thursday, February 11th: Reduction in Force notices handed to employees.

May 2010: LEVY!!! If we do not pass a levy by the end of 2010 (May or November), Lakewood will have to cut an additional $4.4 million! This would mean an additional 40-60 employees, and the elimination of nearly everything in the district. I cannot even fathom how the district would stay intact if this were to happen. It is entirely likely the district would have to be taken over by the state and/or potentially dissolved and students distributed to neighboring districts.

Yes, the situation is dire. But, rest assured, hope is not lost! I have been absolutely blown away by how our parents and students have come together to come up with creative ways to have their voices heard. To advocate for the programs they love. To save the Band, Choir, and Drama programs so future generations of students can experience what THEY were able to.

Liz Stringer, along with Sarah Smith, Jared Halter, Kayla Liston, and Matt Toskin have been tirelessly working to spearhead efforts to bring the community's focus to our situation. Sarah Smith has contacted NBC 4 to cover our story and keep Lakewood in the public eye, and Liz has planned the following event to raise awareness. Please read Liz's email below.

(Message to everyone from Liz Stringer)

Hi Miss Houck!

As you know from Sarah's emails this weekend, a small group of us has been doing our best to plan for the next few weeks. I know she already told you about her interview with NBC4 tomorrow, but the main focus of that interview is our plan to line Rt. 40 holding posters with messages about the performing arts, and our education to get our message across to the board members. We will be doing this February 9th after school until 5:30 because of the basketball game, and then the 10th after school until 6, so those of us that want to, can go to the board meeting. Can you please pass this along to the lancer bands contacts? I want everyone to be informed, so we have as many people as possible going!

Liz Stringer

I know the information I shared with you today may be hard to understand. It is definitely hard to accept... BUT, every single parent and student of Lakewood has the opportunity to effect change in our district. Every single one of you has the opportunity to advocate and take a stand for what you (and we) believe in. Let this be our call to action. NOW is our time. We cannot afford to wait any longer.

Again, all of you are invited to the Band Booster meeting Tuesday, Jan 26th at 7:30pm. If you are unable to attend, or want more information, please contact me anytime at lhouck@laca.org or on my cell at 614-354-7080. The entire Performing Arts Staff is more than willing to talk, set up a conference, or have a conversation at any time about our situation. Please don't hesitate to contact us!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I encourage you to check out our Facebook Fan Page Lakewood Lancer Band fan page, and look around at all the discussion groups and pages created by students and parents dedicated to generating ideas and promoting advocacy. You will be blown away as well... Whatever happens in the end, we can all be proud of the integrity and character of our students, parents, and community.

Hope to see you tomorrow night,

Lauren Houck

1) All parent/student information must be updated in Charms by this Friday. Please see the green sheets your students brought home for instructions. Students profiles also reflect the majority of financial balances as of 12/18/09.  www.charmsoffice.com

2) Please contact treasurer Kathy Parrish at treasurer@lancerband.net with financial questions or if you would like to use credits to pay for other fees (reeds/solo and ensemble/etc). She needs a formal request to have authorization to use credits for payment.

3) Solo and Ensemble is 3 weeks away. I realize that all of our schedules are super crazy (that's probably an understatement!), but please make sure students are prepared to rehearse, at school every day, and prepared to rehearse with their accompanist. They will be meeting with accompanists beginning THIS WEEK.

4) KROGER FUNDRAISER UPDATE: We are working hard to get every student's account updated with their correct Kroger earnings. However, there are at least 8 kroger card numbers that we have no idea who they belong to. Reminder: You must email your Kroger Plus Card number, customer name, and student name to Krogercards@lancerband.net or president@lancerband.net in order for the money to be allocated correctly. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOUR STUDENT WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT and all earnings will go to the uniform account.

5) Parents: I can't believe I'm saying this so early, but it will be here before we know it: We are in search of people to run the Donut Booth! Nick and Connie Wildermuth (with the help of the Beard and Parrish families) have been in charge of it for years, but will not be continuing. In the past, 1 couple has taken this huge responsibility on, but this year we're looking for at least 2 couples or solid groups of individuals willing to put in the time to oversee this critical fundraiser. We make ALL OF OUR BAND BUDGET through the Donut Booth, and it's a large (but fun!) undertaking. Please e-mail me if you're interested in learning more! :)

Thanks, and have a great day!

Miss Houck

Tuesday: Election Day!

***Vote YES for Lakewood Schools and CONTINUE THE EXCELLENCE!!!***

Wednesday:
Hi-Lights rehearsal 6-8:30. Material for the Concert Season Placement Hearings (where we hear each student play an excerpt/scales/sight reading on their concert instrument to help us determine what band/seat they should have) will be distributed that night, and sign ups for Hearing times will take place. Hearings will take place November 11, 12, and 13th after school.

Thursday:
Hi-Lights Matinees- during the school day. Students will wear FULL UNIFORM (minus beret and gloves), and perform 2 matinee's for K-5 students that day. We will provide lunch for everyone :)

Friday:
Hi-Lights opening night! Call is 7pm in full uniform (minus beret and gloves). Show starts at 8.

Saturday:
Hi-Lights night #2. Same times as Friday.

I finally put my Band Camp pics on the photo gallery....Chad

On November 6th & 7th at 8p.m. come and enjoy the biggest rock band in Licking County, as they perform all the songs from the 2009 marching season in the performing arts center. Tickets are just $5!!! For ticket information, please e-mail tickets@lancerband.net

There are 3 new gallaries in the photo section; and in the video section, a slide show youtube video made by the official photographer of the the Lakewood Lancer Marching Band..Regina Mullins!

-Friday's call time is 6pm. Due to the possibility of rain again, we will wear SUMMER UNIFORMS with White Long Sleeved underneath- just like Circleville last weekend.

****The Uniform should have been hung up and dried out properly after last Friday's rainstorm. Students with uniforms that are muddy or have not been hung up properly to dry well MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO PERFORM THE HI-LIGHTS MATINEE NEXT THURSDAY! Being "in uniform" means we all have to look GOOD as well! Clean off your uniform!!!! :)*****

Next week:

Monday: Hi-Lights Stage Building
All day Monday, we will be pulling out risers and getting ready to build the stage for Hi-Lights. Mr. Will and I will be here in the band department from 7:20-11:30am pulling out risers if you are available to help. Also, we will be building the actual stage set up during 9th period band rehearsal (1:30-2:20). If you would like to volunteer to help that day, please let me know. Mr. Will and I might be tough (haha), but we can't get all the risers out and build this ourselves...! :)

Hi-Lights rehearsal Monday evening will be 6-8:30 as usual. If your student was selected as a Hi-Lights Dancer (and isn't in Drama), I would like them to arrive at 5pm.

Dear parents,

After the rain last night, every uniform is wet completely through and muddy.  Please follow these instructions for drying and removing mud.  Each uniform costs between $300 and $400 so we cannot afford to have uniforms ruined.

Your child should bring the uniform home for drying.  If they did not, ask them where it is.

Hang each component (overlay, jacket and pants) separately with room for air to circulate.  You can use a dehumidifer to remove moisture from the air and the uniform.

DO NOT put the uniform in a clothes dryer.  It will ruin the uniform.

After the uniform is dry, mud that is caked on the uniform can be brushed off with a stiff brush.  Do not use a wet cloth to try to wash the mud off.

There will be stains on the overlay.  There is nothing we can do at this time as the turn around time for a large number of overlays at a dry cleaner is too long and we need them next Friday.

Call Vivian with questions 928-7141.

Spats, shoes and gloves also need to be cleaned before the next game... next Friday.

Vivian Dernberger

------------

WE ARE STILL IN DESPERATE NEED OF HELP for the Donut Booth! I do applaud and want to thank all of you who have signed up to help. Thank you for being part of the SOLUTION!

If you're one of the people that think "I don't need to volunteer, somebody else will do it- they always have enough people...", believe me- they're not and we don't. And if you're someone who believes that "my student uses their own instrument, this money doesn't help them out at all...", please consider the fact that if your student 1) Wears a uniform, 2) plays sheet music, 3) has ever ordered uniform items without paying beforehand, 4) bought a reed from the band, 5) borrowed an extra summer uniform shirt/beret/spats/gloves, and 6) ever played in a concert- they ARE benefitting from this fundraiser money. Imagine a concert with no bass drum, no timpani, no snare drum or mallets, no tubas or baritones, no bari sax or tenor saxophones, no drumset or bass in jazz band... the list goes on and on...

EVERYONE benefits from the efforts of the Band Boosters' fundraising, and this is the BIG ONE. To be honest, this fundraiser earns 83% MORE than the budget we are provided by the district. If we were to try to run the Lakewood Band Program on solely what is provided, we would have to function with only one SIXTH of what we earn at the Donut Booth. This is simply not possible.

I know you're sick of hearing my pleas, and trust me, I'm tired of having to do it. Please just help. That's all I can ask. Please...

Thank you for your time,

Miss Houck

8/30 - There are a couple of new photo slideshows on the site. Check out the photo galleries.

Did you know the Lancer Band is on twitter??..scroll down to the bottom of the home page to see the twitter feed!!

-------

Here are the details and reminders for tonight:

Call time: 4pm

What we wear: SUMMER UNIFORM which includes
1) Black summer uniform pants (some of you still need to pay/be approved!)
2) Black BELT
3) Black soks
4) Black marching band shoes
5) Royal blue polo
6) Uniformity policy applies for hair, jewelery, makeup, etc. (This applies whenever we're in a uniform of any type)

Details:
Parade steps off at 6pm from Millersport High School and proceeds to the Sweetcorn Festival grounds and past the bandstand. We'll march directly to the booth and play for all the Donut makers!

Students will have approximately 1/2 hour to go get food and walk around. They'll be able to eat dinner there if they bring money. We'll set a time to meet back at the buses (probably around 8pm), where you can sign them out if you choose. We should be back to the school around 8:30.

As we approach the first day of classes this Wednesday, I have some important information and announcements to share.

1) Call times for all football games have been added to the website calendar. Friday's call (in full uniform- uniform parts will be distributed at Wednesday night practice) is 5:45pm. We leave at 6, so make sure students are on time! We expect to be home around 11, but I always have students call on our way home so you can be waiting at the school to pick them up.

2) Berets, gloves, spats, and summer uniform shirts will be distributed at Wednesday night practice.

3) Our first evening rehearsal is this Wednesday 6-8:30. Rehearsal BEGINS at 6, so make sure students arrive on time. Also, please do your best to pick students up on time. We directors live far away from school and usually don't get to go home from our entire day of work until the end of practice. I must admit that in order for me to make it home and get to sleep at a decent hour, I need to be able to leave quickly after practice. Please don't leave your student waiting at the school. They are ALWAYS done at 8:30. Thanks!

4) JIS Pep Rally: As was mentioned at Visitor's night at camp, we've been asked to play for an Opening Day Pep Rally at the Intermediate School on Wednesday. Any student who wants to participate in the pep rally must be able to stay after school until approximately 3pm. We will be walking over as a group at 2pm (during 9th period band) and should be done by 3. Students are asked to wear Red, White, or Blue Lakewood gear for the performance. Any student not participating in the pep rally will stay behind with a substitute and be dismissed at regular time (2:20).

5) Please make sure students have appropriate marching clothes for 9th period band practices! Students will NOT be allowed to march in flip flops or skirts (shorts, however, may be worn underneath). Making students sit out for dress violations HURTS THE ENTIRE BAND because each squad depends on its members to be in attendance to effectively work on drill. We can't make our drill look good if we have 9 people sitting out! PLEASE don't let this be an issue :)

Students- I hope you all enjoy your last day off. See you Wednesday!

Thanks!
Miss Houck

---------

The band arrived back in Hebron on Friday afternoon after a week at band camp. I got to be there all week as a chaperone and I can tell you..this band is amazing.

They worked really hard at camp and this is going to be a great marching season!!

Thanks,

Chad Shutts
Webmaster

As we've been putting the Donut Booth schedule together, we've realized that we're in DESPERATE need of help during the times below. Please contact Laura Beard at president@lancerband.net to sign up for a time.

THIS SATURDAY 8/29: - Nick and Connie Wildermuth are in need of student and parent volunteers to help set up the Donut Booth this Saturday afternoon. This is a very important job, and one you should volunteer for if you're not able to work a shift at the booth.

Wednesday 9/2: - We need workers for the evening shift after the Parade. Students who want to work are encouraged to sign up for this shift and stick around after the parade. I'll be there that night as well.

Friday 9/4: - WE NEED WORKERS FRIDAY NIGHT! All high school students and directors will be busy with the football game. We realize that most band parents will also be attending the game, but if there is anyone else in your family that would be willing to work that night, we could really use the help! We're trying to get Middle School volunteers for that night, but we'll take anything we can get!

Saturday 9/5: - I need a Seniors and Student Staff for the Saturday AFTERNOON shifts (11:30am-6pm).

STUDENTS: Every student should be signed up for at least one shift. Seniors and staff, I'm counting on you to be there. Consider it part of your job :)

EVERYONE: We can not run the Lakewood Band without the funds earned at the Donut Booth. If the Lakewood Bands are to continue providing new music, quality instruments, and all the other things we use around here, we need to keep this fundraiser going strong!

Thanks in advance for your volunteerism and help!
Miss Houck

Don't forget - visitors night at band camp on Thursday. Please come after 5:30 p.m. - Please note: there is no smoking on the camp grounds!

--------

The 2009 Lancer Band is off to a great start! We've learned over 12 songs so far! I can't wait for everyone to hear them on visitor's night at camp!

FORMS and HANDOUTS

Last week, the following forms and handouts were sent home. Forms need to be filled out completely and turned in asap.
--- Emergency Medical Form (due asap)
--- Lancer Band Handbook Agreement Form (due MONDAY!)
--- Patron Page for the football program (due by next week)
--- Donut Booth sign up form (due asap!)
--- Authorization to Adminster Medication Form. This form is for band camp and needs to be signed by a doctor if your student needs ANY type of medication at band camp- including Tylenol and similar medicines. All medication will be held and distributed by the band camp nurse. (due, with medication, at Band Camp check- in)
--- Band Camp Information Packet (includes all info for camp)

PICTURES
Band pictures will be this Tuesday, Aug 11th at 2:30pm. Students need to arrive at 2pm in full uniform (no berets). Students are welcome to stay after pictures for rehearsal. Picture order packets were passed out Monday evening. All checks will be made out to the picture company, NOT the band, and are due at the time of the pictures.

PARENT MEETING
There will be a Parent Information Meeting this Wednesday, Aug 12, at 7:00pm in the auditorium. I strongly encourage all new member parents to attend, as we will cover many aspects of how the Lancer Band runs: how football games work, how band festivals work, attendance policies, and generally what to expect as a Lancer Band Parent! :)

BAND CAMP PAYMENTS
Band Booster officers are on hand EVERY NIGHT to accept payments for band camp. Remember: payment is due BEFORE we leave for camp Sunday the 16th. Please stop in when you pick up your student if you'd like to speak with our Treasurer, Kathy Parrish, and if you need to make any type of payment arrangement.

SWEET CORN FESTIVAL RAFFLE
Once again, Lancer Band students have the opportunity to sell Sweet Corn Festial Raffle tickets. Students make $2.50 profit towards their band camp account for each packet sold. If they choose to participate, each student will start off with 3 packets. When those packets are turned in with money, they'll be eligible to pick up more. We will be selling these until the weekend before Sweet Corn Festival, so they'll have lots of time to earn! Tickets are available each night from the Boosters here at practice.

UNIFORMS
Band uniforms are going to be passed out this evening at practice. We will give students a demonstration of how to properly wear the uniform, and how to hang it up. Remember: each time students wear the uniform, it's an "all or nothing" policy. Either the student is in FULL uniform (with spats on and beret and gloves in their pockets), or not in uniform at all. Black SOCKS, a dark shirt, and ATHLETIC SHORTS are required for under the uniform.

Also, I have a list of about 45 students who either didn't show up to their uniform fitting with black summer uniform pants or their black pants weren't satisfactory. The biggest problem we're having is girls showing up with polyester pants without pockets or belt loops, and people showing up with "skinny" pants. NEITHER is correct. Students are encouraged to go to the men's or boys department of any store and purchase "Docker's style" pants (pleated or flat front with pockets and belt loops). Men's pants can be purchased with waist and length sizes to ensure a perfect fit. PLEASE get the pants situation taken care of as soon as you're able to! :)

OK...I think that's it. Thanks for sticking with me throgh all of that information!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!

Miss Houck

This Week
- Pre-Camp rehearsals Monday through Friday, 5-8pm.
- Rehearsals BEGIN at 5pm, and everyone needs to be set up and ready to play by that time. ****If possible, please arrive between 4:15-4:45 to make sure you're ready to go by 5!****
- Students playing school owned instruments (sousa/alto/tenor/baritone, etc) should arrive by 4:25 so we can make sure you have everything you need.
- PARKING: Due to paving work in the Faculty lot, everyone needs to park in the STUDENT LOT until further notice. Students should be picked up in the student lot as well, until further notice.

Next Week
- Pre-Camp rehearsals Monday through Thursday, 5-9pm. Students will need to pack a dinner, and shoes for marching outside.
- Pictures will be Tuesday, August 11th at 2:30. Students will need to arrive no later than 2pm in full uniform (we'll pass them out this week and show everyone how to wear them properly). Students are more than welcome to pack a late lunch and stay after pictures until practice at 5pm.

Other Items

Paperwork
- Parents, your students should be bringing home multiple pieces of paperwork for you to read through and sign this week. Paperwork will include (but is not limited to) Emergency Medical Forms, Lakewood Extracurricular Activity Contract, and Lancer Band Handbook.

Band Camp Payments
- Payment for band camp is due before we leave, Sunday Aug. 16th! Booster officers will be on hand during pre-camp rehearsals. Please stop by and talk with them if you have any questions, or send in payments with your student. As was discussed at the Spring Meeting in April, it takes a LOT of money to go to camp and run the Lakewood Band Program. Your prompt and complete payment is necessary and very much appreciated :)

Donut Booth
- Donut Booth sign ups were included in the summer newsletter. I'll be sending more information about Donut Booth later, but please take a look at your schedules for September 2-5. The Donut Booth is, by far, our biggest fundraiser of the year, and takes hundreds of people to run! Your participation is vital to keep the Lancer Band up and running! :)

Patron Page
- Patron Page forms were also included in the summer newsletter. Forms are due by the beginning of next week, so please send those in.

- ATTENTION STUDENTS: We are in need of another sousaphone player (or two!). The band is HUGE this year, and we only have 4 sousas as of right now. If we're going to play with a balanced sound (which, as you all know is one of the most important aspects of a band's sound), we need some more low brass in the mix. If you're even the slightest bit interested in learning how to play (even if you've never played a brass instrument before), please let me know. I'm very confident that I could teach any of you to play and be successful right away! :)

- Please continue to check www.lancerband.net for Calendar updates. I will put up new Band Camp info and Handbook copies soon.

Please contact Dawn Eichenlaub to sign-up for a 1 hour shift at callingcommittee@lancerband.net . We would like to have at least 4 people each hour. We want to make sure that you get to see your child/children perform. A schedule is available if you’re unsure of the performance times.

Hi-Lights Concert

The Lancer Band performed their annual Hi-Lights concert Friday and Saturday nights and they rocked the house!!! Thank you Lancer Band for putting on such a great show and working hard all season. Check the video page often as I will be uploading some of the songs from Hi-Lights. I took about 5 videos until my memory card started filling up.

Circleville Pumpkin Show Parade: Saturday, October 18th
This will bring the band HUGE exposure! We've been wanting to get into this parade for 6 years, and we're finally in! Call time is 4:40 p.m., we'll leave by 5:00. The parade steps off at the Pumpkin Show at 8pm. Not sure of our position in the parade yet, but I'll keep you posted if that information becomes available. ETR will most likely be around 11pm.

9-3-2008: Please see the middle school section for information on uniform shirts.

10-3-2008: Attention 5th Grade Parents! The 5th Grade Band Information Meeting will be held this Tuesday, October 7th at 7:30 in the High School Auditorium. At this brief meeting, the band directors will help you and your student understand the benefits of participating in instrumental music, show you the types of instruments available to play in 5th grade, and answer any and all questions about the Lancer Band Program. Please call 928-4496 or email lhouck@lancerband.net if you are unable to attend. Thanks, and see you Tuesday! Click here for more information

The 5th grade fittings will be Wednesday and Thursday evening.

9-5-2008:NEW PERFORMANCES
As you know, the Lancer Band is always in high demand- and this year is no exception! And as with all in-demand ensembles, we're always interested in showcasing the talents of our students. I thank you in advance for your flexibility in adapting your schedules to allow us these new and exciting opportunities!!! Here are the events not reflected on the paper calendar passed out in August. You can find all of this information in the online calendar.

Saturday, September 20th: Graham Band Festival, St. Paris OH
Since the Heath festival was cancelled, I applied for this festival. Technically, they were full, but their director (a former OU trumpet player like myself), knowing how good our band is, made an exception and let us in!

This is the biggest grouping of high step, show style bands (like us) we'll see all season. 12 bands, including Johnstown, will be attending. The Ohio University 110, now including three Lakewood alums: Andy Black, Amy Brown, and Kalee McCord, will be the featured gr0up! Call time is 3:00pm, depart 3:30. The show starts at 7pm. I would assume the admission charge is approx $5. With so many bands, it's going to be a late night. ETR is somewhere around 12:30am. This is going to be a GREAT festival!!!

Thursday, September 25th: Volley for the Cure/Boys Soccer Game
The band has been invited to perform at the Lakewood Girls Volleyball's "Volley for the Cure", a fundraiser for breast cancer research. We will be playing during the varsity girls warm up before they take on Licking Valley! The Choir will be performing the National Anthem.

Immediately following the volleyball performance in the high school gym, we will walk over to the stadium to play tunes at pregame and halftime (in the stands) for the Varsity Boys Soccer game against Bexley.

Call time for Volley for the Cure will be 5:30 in the band room. We'll play from 6-6:15ish. After that,we'll walk over to the stadium to play the Soccer "pregame" tunes by 7pm. The game starts at 7:15. We should be done that evening by approximately 8:30pm (after the "halftime" performance).

Both of these performances are a great way to show our support for Lakewood activties, as well as for the hard working students involved in them (including the many band members who participate in those sports!).

9-19-2009: For driving directions to the Graham Festival, please go to the calendar and click on Graham Band Festival.

9-15-2008: The 7th and 8th grade middle school bands will be playing with the high school band during pre-game and halftime on Friday, September 19th. See the middle school info page for more information.

8-22-2008: The call time and depart time for the Canal Winchester game on the 29th has changed. Please see the calendar for the new times...and please remember to check the calendar often for others changes that might occur throughout the season.

It's Donut Booth Time!
We need help getting the Donut Booth ready this weekend! If you're available and would like to help, please meet at the Donut Booth at 10am on Saturday to help set up, clean, etc. We need to get it lookin' good so we can sell lots of donuts!

ALSO, if you'd like to sign up to work the booth (we REALLY need help Wednesday and Friday), email the donut committee at donuts@lancerband.net. It takes hundreds of people to staff the booth, so please consider donating a few hours to help keep the Lancer Band funded and functioning in top shape throughout the year :)

SWEET CORN FESTIVAL PARADE NEXT WEDNESDAY!
Next Wednesday, the 27th, is the Sweet Corn Festival Parade. Students will meet at the school at 4pm and depart for Millersport at 4:30. Step off is approx. 6pm. The parade will be followed by a performance in front of the bandstand. Times of that portion are still TBA. For this parade, STUDENTS WILL WEAR SUMMER UNIFORMS.

And speaking of summer uniforms...
By now, students should have their black, dockers style summer uniform pants. Students will be required to bring these pants to Monday night's practice, because I'm not convinced everyone has theirs yet! Hemming for pants too long will be available for $5. Summer uniform shirts were distributed at practice last night (as were berets for the full uniform. Gloves will be distributed today.) The summer uniform is black dockers style pants, black belt, black socks, black shoes, and summer uniform shirt. Don't forget to BRING BLACK PANTS ON MONDAY NIGHT! :)

Other reminders:
-Monday is Market Day pickup. We need volunteers to meet at the Intermediate School at 3:45 to help unload/pack orders

7-3-2008: The Band Camp and uniform pricing information pages have been updated. If you didn't get Miss Houck's summer newsletter or want another copy, please click here for a pdf version of it.

6-2-2008: Check out the new photo gallery for some pics of the Florida Trip and see how you can get a cd of all the pictures.
